Our Home
Eona is a historic mansion built in 1926 in Nenita, Chios. Initially constructed by the Petrakis family, this home remained with them for three generations before they entrusted us with its care, allowing us to breathe new life into it. In 2025, we embarked on a restoration project to revive its timeless charm and preserve its rich history.
This elegant mansion offers spacious accommodations across two floors. On the ground floor, you’ll find our art studio with independent access, one bathroom, and two communal rooms featuring an original built-in oven and direct entry to the garden. The communal rooms could serve as fully equipped bedrooms if needed.
The second entrance leads to the upper floor, where the bedrooms, the second bathroom, and the kitchen are located. From the kitchen, you can step out onto a terrace with a comfortable seating area, ideal for candle-lit dinners. The rooms boast tall ceilings, hand-painted walls, and large windows with stunning views.
This 300m² haven offers tranquility and comfort, where the sounds of morning roosters greet you, and each night promises the best sleep you've ever had. The private courtyard on the ground floor is perfect for dining and relaxation. It opens into a secluded garden enclosed by a stone wall, shaded lounge areas, and citrus trees.
Our lovable dog, Menios, who calls Eona his home, is always happy to share his charm and cuddles with visitors.

Our location
Chios itself is a hidden gem, full of secrets waiting to be discovered. Its varied landscapes—from arid olive groves in the north to lush pine forests in the middle, and mastic trees and palm groves in the south—reflect the island’s remarkable diversity. It’s an island that evolves with the seasons, offering a unique experience no matter when you visit.
Steeped in rich history, Chios has been a crossroads of cultures for millennia. It is famously known as the birthplace of the ancient Greek poet Homer, whose epic tales of the Iliad and the Odyssey echo the island’s storied past. Chios’s strategic position in the Aegean Sea has made it a key player in various historical periods, from its significance in the Byzantine Empire to its role in the Genoese era, when it was known for its flourishing mastic production—a tradition that continues today. The island’s architecture reflects its historical depth, with medieval villages, ancient ruins, and neoclassical buildings that tell the stories of its diverse influences.
At Eona, we invite you to explore the island’s beauty and immerse yourself in its local traditions. Our home is not just a place to stay but a gateway to understanding and experiencing Chios in its most authentic form. Whether you're seeking the warmth of summer, the festive cheer of Easter, or the peacefulness of a winter retreat, Eona is your timeless sanctuary. As you explore Chios’ charming landscapes and rich history, you’ll find that each visit unveils new layers of this enchanting island’s heritage.
Nenita, a small village in southern Chios, boasts a rich history dating back to at least 1258. Initially formed by merging seven smaller settlements to protect against pirate raids during the Genoese rule, it retains traces of antiquity in its place names and archaeological sites. Over the years, Nenita flourished and was known for its mastic and citrus cultivation and cultural achievements, including schools and monasteries.
Despite enduring devastations like the 1822 Chios Massacre and the 1881 earthquake, it rebuilt and remains a vibrant community. Today, Nenita, one of the 24 Mastic villages of Chios, stands as a testament to resilience, blending historical charm with modern vitality.
