Residency
The Eona Art Residency, developed in collaboration with Descoverartists, is a highly selective program with a mission to foster innovative creativity, preserve the heritage of Chios, and expand access to the island’s unique cultural and natural environment.
The residency invites artists and creatives from around the world to live and work in the inspiring setting of Eona’s historic home, surrounded by the distinctive artistic and cultural heritage of Chios. It offers time and space for creative exploration, providing an authentic island experience enriched by stunning natural landscapes and vibrant local traditions.
Residents are encouraged to use the house and the island as a canvas for their work, research, and experimentation. The program includes private bedrooms and full access to the mansion’s facilities, fostering both individual creativity and communal living.
Eona also provides a unique opportunity to connect with the local community and engage with a global network of fellow artists. By bringing creatives together in a collaborative environment, we aim to cultivate a space where inspiration, experimentation, and meaningful connections thrive. Each participant becomes an integral part of a collective that enriches both the residency experience and the local culture.
Residency Program Overview
Our residency program is designed to foster collaboration and innovation within a dynamic, communal environment.
We welcome applications on a rolling basis from artists and creatives across all disciplines. Our residency focuses on four thematic categories that align with our mission:
1. Documenting Chios: Dive into the rich cultural heritage of Chios by documenting the island's unique history, traditions, and local community through your creative lens.
2. Site-Specific Projects: Develop installations or artworks tailored to the distinct character of Eona, our residency home, merging creativity with place.
3. Eona Initiatives: Host or participate in free events designed to bridge cultures, inspire fresh ideas, and connect the local community with global perspectives.
Through these categories, we aim to inspire artistic innovation while celebrating the cultural heritage of Chios. Join us in crafting meaningful work that resonates within the residency and beyond.
